League Rules and Bylaws:
Though C.A.S.L. has many local rules for play we generally follow the guidelines laid out by the ASA. Please
visit their site for rules changes and an up-to-date list of approved and non-approved bats see ASA Bats.
The League Rules and Bylaws are being updated but until they are available to post here are a few rules to remember
for the current season:

Numbers on Jerseys:
Each
member of a team must have a jersey with either a one or two digit number on the back. If a player is without a number
on the back of his uniform he is ineligible to play. This number may not be duplicated on the lineup sheet. If
there are duplicate jersey numbers the coach must
determine which member will play and which will not in that game.
The batting order is not determined by the players
name but rather by his number. If a player enters the batters box with the wrong number as represented on the lineup
card the batter may be called out.
Equipment:
The "B" dead ball is in play for all men's league games. Any two
teams that mutually agree to play with the "A" ball prior to game time may do so.
The "B" dead ball
is in play for all men's league games. Any two teams that mutually agree to play with the "A" ball prior
to game time may do so.
Player Elegibility:
Players can request to play on a second team during the league season; Coaches of the second team must request this
directly to the men's league commissioner who will poll the opposing coaches for approval. Must receive majority
approval to be eligible to play for the second team.
Shorthand rule is in play
for league play only:
Team must have 7 roster players to begin the game. Can pick up 1 or 2 players from the
crowd to give maximum of 9 players in active lineup, i.e. cannot pick up player for the 10th spot. Must have opposing
coach's approval for the players picked up.
1-Pitch Tourney only:
Players can only play on 1 team. Participation
in the 1-pitch tourney does not affect eligibility in the league season.
On a Player Throwing a Bat:
We will have to use good judgment on the intent
of the player! For example; if a player throws a bat out of anger he/she should be ejected immediately from the game. If a
player throws the bat unintentionally than a warning to the Coach as soon as play has stopped. The next time the same
player throws a bat the play should be called as dead ball batter is out. No advancement of the runners. If there is
another offense the player should be ejected from the game.
This is also were the umpire
must use some judgment, if a player throws the bet non intentionally but is clearly a threat to the safety of players,
that player should be ejected immediately from the game without warning. If we have warned a player/coach in previous games
we are NOT obligated to issue another warning just because it is a different game. Throwing the bat is not addressed
in the ASA rules except if a player throws the bat out of anger, the result is immediate ejection.
End of Season Tourney:
Players must appear in 1 game
during the league season to be eligible for the end season tourney. Players may play on 2 teams as per first line above.
End of Season Tourney Format:
- The 1st and 2nd place A League teams will
play a best of five series for the Super A title
- The 1st and 2nd B League teams will move
up to the A League bracket double elim tourney for the A League title
- The 6 remaining B League
teams will compete in a double elim tourney for the B League title
- Seeding's for both double elim tourney brackets
will be based on league standings
